Neutral

Looks like we’re blessed with good weather in Melbourne for the next two days.

My French girlfriend Agnes once told me that Parisiennes don’t like wearing bright colours in summer. “Bright colours make you look…provincial, neutral colours are better.” she said in her typical French/nonchalant manner.

While that hasn’t put me off wearing bright colours, I must admit that a neutral palette does look effortlessly chic on warmer days.

This Jac+Jack dark beige/dusky peach silk button down shirt has been sitting in my closet for over two years now- beautiful fabric but I always think this colour washes me out a little bit. But I’ve worn a white cotton singlet underneath today to freshen up the outfit and it worked!

As Henry gets older, I’m slowly ditching my longchamp nappy bag and happily transitioning back to my usual bags. You realise that you don’t need to actually bring 6 nappies (the old rule of 1 nappy for each hour you intend to stay out) and a whole bag of creams and spare outfits that never get used. I’m only going out for lunch and grocery shopping so in my bag today, I’ve only packed a dummy, a bib, a bottle, two nappies and a small pack of wipes. (If my baby has 6 dirty nappies in 6 hours, I think it’s a sign that his tummy might be a bit off and it’s a good idea to go home anyway!)
